Shay Skital

About

Shay Skital is an architect, urban planner, and Ph.D. researcher at AAIRL. He holds a B.Arch. from Ariel University and an M.A. in Geography and the Human Environment, with a specialization in Urban and Regional Planning and Design, from Tel Aviv University.

Before joining the lab, Shay served in senior public-sector planning roles, including City Architect and Head of Planning Department in several local authorities in Israel. His professional work included complex planning processes, new neighborhood planning, heritage preservation, urban renewal, commercial and employment zones, tourism-oriented planning, public buildings, and public space design.

At AAIRL, Shay’s research connects urban planning practice with digital tools for city analysis and decision support. His work emphasizes place-sensitive planning, local identity, and the use of urban data to improve the experience and value cities offer to residents and visitors.
